Winners Recognized at a Virtual Awards Ceremony
July 23, 2020 – Nine school divisions received honors in the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Excellence in Workforce Readiness Awards. Winning divisions were recognized at a virtual awards ceremony. The awards program was created in 2018 by the VSBA Task Force on Workforce Readiness to highlight exemplary programs in Virginia’s Public Schools focused on preparing the state’s future workforce.
“It is excellent to see so many innovative programs surrounding Workforce Readiness in the Commonwealth,” stated VSBA President Rodney Jordan. “Congratulations to the school divisions recognized for their hard work.”
The winning school divisions are as follows:
Student Population Below 5,000 Students
First Place- Cumberland County Public Schools, Career Connections
Second Place- Goochland County Public Schools, Business and Education Roundtables
Third Place- Salem City Public Schools, Future Pathways
Student Population Between 5,001 – 10,000 Students
First Place- Pittsylvania County Public Schools, Precision Machining Technology
Second Place- Shenandoah County Public Schools, Cradle to Careers
Third Place- Prince George County Public Schools, After-School Logistics Workforce Development Program
Student Population Above 10,001 Students
First Place- Fairfax County Public Schools, Health and Medical Services Programs
Second Place- Chesterfield County Public Schools, Chesterfield Career and Technical Center Work-Based Learning Program
Third Place- Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Undefeated Youth- Workforce Development Program
